Article about the crusades and the hundred year wars
The Crusades was a time of extreme tension between the Christians and the Muslims. It stirred up around 1096 and lasted several hundred years. It was triggered when Christians set out to reclaim the “the holy land (the city of Jerusalem and surrounding areas)” from the Muslims. The Crusaders believed that it was the right thing to do. God “spoke” to the people stating that if Christians would fight this war their souls would be redeemed, free of all sins and spiritually cleansed. Although Christians claim that they only fought the war because the lord, they had plenty of other motives. Revenge for the capturing of the Byzantine Empire is a suggested reason. The Turks (who are Muslims) captured the empire from the eastern orthodox Christians Regardless of what time period, money and power could have a role in the massacre. There were upsides to the slaying of the Muslims. It promoted feudalism, intellectual development and voyages.
The Hundred Years’ War is a series of battles
between the English and French. Ironically the Hundred Years’ War wasn’t actually a hundred years. It was one hundred and sixteen years, lasting from 1337 to 1453. The English and French were not fond of each other. When the king of France died, an English king stepped in by inheritance. The French became furious. The parliament became stronger because they began to receive more
support from the people. Power was beginning to shift from the crown to a group which marked the king or queen becoming more of a figure head rather than a ruler.
